Welcome to Food - a fact of life
Food – a fact of life (FFL) is designed to instil a culture of healthy eating and food literacy in children, equipping children and young people with the food knowledge, skills and confidence to make healthy food choices throughout their lives.
Food – a fact of life (FFL) is a comprehensive, progressive food education programme founded on a whole-school approach, which provides up-to-date, evidence-based information about food and nutrition. The FFL resources are developed by qualified teachers, experienced nutritionists and experts in food and farming.
The FFL programme meets the requirements of food and nutrition curricula and qualifications across the UK and supports subjects such as design and technology, technology and health, health and wellbeing, home economics, science, numeracy, literacy, geography, religious education, and RSE and health education.
The resources are free and widely used by teachers in schools across the UK. They can also be used by anyone involved in educating or supporting the learning of children and young people about food, including parents and carers, those working in clubs, and home education.
FFL is the flagship education programme of the British Nutrition Foundation, delivered in partnership with the Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board (AHDB). The British Nutrition Foundation team provides expertise in both pedagogy and nutrition science, while AHDB provides expertise in farming and the food chain.
